1) RISC OS South-East Show
Surrey and Sussex Acorn User Group, in conjunction with Fillin Ltd, are
happy to announce that the seventh RISC OS South-East show will be held at
Guildford College on 18th October.
The show will open at 10am and close at 4pm. Admission will be GBP5,
unchanged since the first show. Visit

2) Mailing list for VirtualAcorn users
An unofficial mailing list for VirtualAcorn users to discuss anything
relating to the use of VirtualAcorn's products, the emulated environment,
and the software running within that environment, is now available.
The mailing list is intended to be supplemental to the primary support
forum .

1) New distributor for Impact database
Sine Nomine Software has taken over the distribution of the popular
database package, Impact, originally developed by Circle Software and more
recently distributed by CJE Micro's.
Impact 3.29 is now available for GBP55 for a full copy, with upgrades from
earlier versions ranging from free to GBP30. For more information please

2) Free trial of Archive magazine
Archive magazine are offering two free trial issues to new readers. The
most recent issue has interviews with John Cartmell (the editor and
publisher of Qercus) and Jan-Jaap van der Geer, along with a review of
Hedwig, his new Colibri-like application for finding files. A hardware
feature tells how to use a Compact Flash card as a completely silent hard
drive in a Risc PC.

* KbdSt, keyboard status
Displays the current state of the keyboard LEDs on the RISC OS Desktop.
For use with wireless keyboards which do not have the usual LEDs.
2) Updated software summary
* Calibre v3.01
An application to design and print calendars of various formats in all
shapes and sizes. New in this version: an extra calendar format;
additional printing options; automatic checking of available fonts;
individual control over aspect ratio of pictures; full interactive help;
improved re-draw speeds; and several minor improvements.
* NeXTBar v1.22
Application launcher and desktop manager. The new version adds the
ability to save data directly from application dialogue boxes to any
directory configured as a NeXTBar button, and includes bug fixes.

* Nuke v1.41
The most powerful and versatile means for erasing files by overwriting
their disc sectors. Now 32 bit compatible. Please note that nuke is not
compatible with VirtualAcorn systems.
* Stratagus v2.2.4
A cross-platform real-time strategy game engine, now available from the
autobuilder and RISC OS Packaging project. Wargus, a Warcraft2 Mod that
allows you to play Warcraft2 with the Stratagus engine, is also
available.
