Well, it's finally ended. Probably the only time that I will be able to say a mega thank you to everyone who has made The Great Acorn Auction in aid of Comic Relief the success it has been.

And now, the grand final total.......

£4716.46p!!!

I owe probably the greatest debts of gratitude to five people. Please don't be offended if you have donated software or hardware to the auction, but these five really do stand out.

Firstly (and secondly!) , my wife and son, Beverley and Richard. They've put up with my being on the computer updating the site, whacking up the phone bill by being online and generally not getting to bed 'til all hours so things go smoothly. Also for putting up with my temper when something went wobbly. Thanks.

Next two in the role of honour are Steve Turnbull (MD, Tau Press) and Paul Beverley (Editor, Archive) for the free advertising space, generous donations and large wodges of help in getting this off the ground.

Finally, Jame Sears. The website has been situated on the acornusers.org domain from the start. Had I done this via another ISP (other than Freeserve), this would have cost money, meaning I'd have less to bid with!.

Dave Clare should get a mention here as it was after talking to him literally minutes after Acorn did the dirty to us that started the ball rolling. Also, Clares were the first company approached who donated.
