  This covers the theory, maths and process of using a calorimeter. Includes details of the glass calorimeter.

• Nitrogen triiodide and agar

  A description of the composition and chemistry of agar and NI₃

• Analytical techniques

  Covers UV, IR and XRD

• The use of sound as a detonator

  A sound wave (at the correct frequency) is capable of detonating a sample. This part looks at the theory and maths behind it.

• Determination of ammonia in the compound

  NI₃ is normally an adduct with ammonia, yet the amount of ammonia adducted is unclear. Using the method outlined here, a value can be obtained
